Hon. James B. McMillan Fund Dinner
Proceeds are in support of nonprofit and government agencies

The Hon. James B. McMillan Fellowship Fund promotes justice and innovation within our local legal system by awarding paid fellowships to law students to work with local nonprofit and governmental agencies. The main source of financial support for these fellowships is the annual McMillan Fund Dinner.

Dr. James Leutze, chancellor emeritus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, will provide the keynote address. Most recently, Dr. Leutze has authored the bookEntering North Carolina: Set Clocks Back 100 Years, which explores the historic roots of today's politics in North Carolina. Read more about Dr. Leutze.

The address is preceded by the p
resentation of the eighth annual Julius L. Chambers Diversity Champion Award to Robert E. Harrington of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to diversity and equal opportunity in our community. It is named for the Award's first recipient, the distinguished civil rights attorney Julius L. Chambers, who represented the successful plaintiffs in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools desegregation case. (The presiding judge in the case was the late James B. McMillan, whose memory the Hon. James B. McMillan Fund honors.)

We hope that you will join us for this exciting event--and in supporting this year's McMillan Fellows--by attending the 2015 Hon. James B. McMillan Fund Dinner at the Mecklenburg County Bar & Foundation Center!
