Mission Statement

The mission of the Mecklenburg County Bar is to serve the public and the Bar members in improving and preserving the administration of justice, and to assist the North Carolina State Bar as described by statutory requirements.

 

 

Overall Goals

To promote the highest standards of professionalism, competence, and ethical behavior among its members.

 

To promote the administration of justice. 

 

To assure access to legal services consistent with ethical consideration to all regardless of social, ethnic or economic status.

 

To promote public education in the community on legal issues, the Bar and the legal system.

 

To provide its members educational and support services to promote the delivery of competent ethical legal services. 

 

To increase involvement of all sectors of the legal profession in the Mecklenburg County Bar.

These goals are carried out by the work of the established committees and sections.  

 

 

2016 – 17 Goals

I.             Resolve Building Issues

a.    Complete Repairs and negotiations with Myers & Chapman

b.    Finalize building needs, both interior and exterior

c.    Celebrate Move - Building Dedication

d.    Finalize Facility Use Policy

e.   Finalize Naming Rights Campaign Proceeds distribution

 

II.            Finalize and begin to implement a three-year strategic plan

 

III.          Evaluate programs and events to determine priorities, best use of resources, and greatest impact to the MCB membership

a.    Schedule a Division of Bar Services audit of MCB committees, sections, programs, events, and implementation of Diversity & Inclusion Task Force recommendations

 

IV.          Develop additional details and structure as needed to the Board-approved Pro Bono Evaluation Task Force's recommendations and strategies for implementation.

 

V.           Actively encourage Bar members to submit voluntary demographics

 

VI.         Continue to focus on diversity in its broadest sense, i.e. race/ethnicity, gender, firm type, age and geographic location when developing program and services and leadership opportunities 

 

VII.         Complete revision of the MCB website
