Attorneys New to Mecklenburg County
North Carolina General Statute requires all lawyers actively licensed in NC to be members of a local judicial district bar and as such, our membership requirements are outlined by the NC State Bar.
To become a member of the 26th Judicial District Bar in Mecklenburg County, log into your NC State Bar account and change your address to Mecklenburg County and Judicial District to 26 - Mecklenburg.
Once the NC State Bar has notified us of your reassignment (or after you notify us and we confirm), we will be able to add you as an official member and send you an email to assist you with setting up your login credentials to our website.
We do not have an online form to join the 26th JD Bar. There is an online form for the voluntary Mecklenburg Bar Association.
Note: If you're new to Mecklenburg County (26th Judicial District Bar) through the comity process, your 26th JD Bar dues will be payable this fiscal year. The Bar's fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30. Be sure to log into your MyMeckBar account to check your balance or email membership@meckbar.org.
Swearing-In Information

Pro Hac Vice Admission
Pro hac vice admission allows an attorney who is not licensed in North Carolina to represent a client in a specific case within the state. This process requires the involvement of a local attorney who is a member of the North Carolina State Bar. Click to read the instructions from the NC State Bar.
