Dear Fellow Bar Member,
The Mecklenburg Bar Association (MBA) serves as a central hub for the meaningful connections we rely on throughout our legal careers. I invite you to strengthen those connections by joining your colleagues in supporting our community, our profession, and one another.
With more than 6,400 members in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg legal community, there are countless opportunities to get involved—whether through service, leadership, or engagement.
Continuing Legal Education - The MBA offers more than 250 hours of accredited CLE programming each year, with over 200 additional programs available on-demand at MeckBar.org. Your membership includes access to at least six hours of CLE credit annually, covering all required credit types—including Mental Health/Substance Abuse, Ethics, and Technology. Our programming is focused on local trends and member feedback, with flexible delivery options to meet your needs.
Networking & Social Events - The MBA hosts a variety of networking and social events throughout the year, including the Annual Meeting, Law & Society Gala, Holiday Party, and the Legal Eagle Charity Golf Tournament. In addition, our Sections and Divisions host their own gatherings to connect members in more focused settings.
Committee Involvement & Leadership Opportunities - The goals of the MBA, the 26th Judicial District Bar (26th JD Bar), and the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation (MBF) are advanced through the work of active, engaged committees. There are many opportunities to serve, contribute, and lead through committee involvement.
Section Membership - The MBA offers 15 sections, each providing networking, education, and CLE tailored to specific practice areas. Sections host programs and events based on member interests, helping you stay connected and informed within your legal field.
Young Lawyers Division (YLD) - If you are 36 or younger—or in your first 10 years of practice—you’re eligible for the MBA’s Young Lawyers Division. YLD offers a welcoming space for early-career attorneys to network, grow, and serve through professional, social, and volunteer opportunities. It’s a great way to build meaningful relationships and get involved in the legal community.
Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) – Attorneys aged 60 and older, or those with 30+ years of practice in any jurisdiction, are eligible for the MBA Senior Lawyers Division. SLD offers opportunities to connect with fellow experienced attorneys and continue contributing to the profession.
Lawyer Referral Service - An ABA-accredited program, the MBA’s Lawyer Referral Service has connected clients with attorney panel members for over 60 years. The robust online system operates 24/7 and provides more referrals than ever before.
MBA Mentorship Alliance - This flexible and inclusive program supports mentorship across career stages. Whether you’re a new attorney, navigating a transition, or seeking to give back, the Mentorship Alliance connects you with peers and experienced professionals to enhance your legal journey.
In addition to the list above, we invite you to check out the variety of vendors and other benefits listed on MeckBar.org.
If you’re already involved, invite a colleague to join you at the next MBA event. We’re here to support you—whatever your goals may be.
With Warm Regards,

Sarah M. Stone
